It’s a common nominator organizations where the power structure is unsound, be it a family, a corporation or a congregation. And in fanatic circles, the power structure just about always is unsound.

Did you know that the few surveys which had religious and political extremism on the list of possible common denominators for child sexual abuse, it always made it to the top 5 common denominator?

I would imagine the numbers are similar for sexual abuse across the board.

note the sexual aspect is only one
anytime the power structure (of any org, whether profit or not for profit) is ‘unsound’ or immoral or questionable in some way there will likely be abuses all over the place

because it creates a culture that pervades
and that culture becomes approving and accepting of all sorts of bad behavior
