that last isn’t entirely true. Obama’s a major NCAA fan, but so was Bill Clinton while he was in office (I don’t know if he still is). Both post-Carter Democratic presidents have been college basketball fans, its just that we sometimes forget that because they were separated by George W. Bush, a Republican who played and still favors baseball.

I think Clinton and Carter were more casual fans. When I say Obama is our first basketball fan as president, I mean he’s like how Bush was with baseball someone that knows the game quite well. I do remember Clinton wearing Arkansas Razorback garb but I don’t recall him having the in depth knowledge of the game and its personalities that Obama does.
