He just can’t get it in his head that tariffs are a tax paid by the importing companies, which they pass onto the consumers. The “USA” — meaning the government — is not getting ripped off. And arguably, neither are the consumers, because they can always buy a similar, less costly product.
Meanwhile, Trump’s tariffs are hurting American manufacturers, whose supply chains have suddenly become more expensive. And they don’t have domestic sources for those products, or the domestic sources are even more expensive than the imported ones.
It’s madness, I tell you!
