My aunt did 18 months in Iraq and another 24 months post-retirement attached to forces in Afghanistan. The human drain of these conflicts, both in lives lost and lives changed, cannot be overstated. Some people come out of it relatively well - I’m thankful my aunt did - but that’s not the case for so many.
