Possibly its that they are leaving Middle Earth by that time. They aren’t greatly concerned about events that ultimately are not a threat to them.

My take on the Helm’s Deep elf appearance in the movie was that it was their crediting of the elves doing some fighting in the War of the Ring. In the appendices of the book it is mentioned that the Lothlorien elves did sortie out and destroy an orc army along the river.
