Mica is thick in Philly. In row house basements in North Philly where I grew up it’s the rock holding the walls up. You could find it easily where the railroads cut deep. We used to try and get it as thin as we could, pull it off sheet by sheet. it would peel like a fluffy biscuit. It was used as a glass or viewer on gauges and equipment in earlier times and I never found it anywhere else but Philly. I remember it used in some facades of buildings and it sparkles.
