The US and the world in general has been increasing production of oil for the past few decades to meet increasing energy demand especially in the developing world

Alternatively, oil producers have been getting as much oil out of the ground as they can because they know it’s all going to turn into stuck assets when we are forced to halt CO2 emissions to avoid the worst global warming scenarios.

Peak oil is never going to happen because if we reach peak oil it will be to late, we’ll be fucked.
