The war protesters, the extended conflict, the calls to get out, enemies the left refused to see, … that seems like enough to draw a parallel.
Yes, but the actual war itself was completely different.
The American Left went through the motions of recreating a Vietnam War-esque anti-war movement, but it flopped because the nature of the Iraq war itself was so fundamentally different. (Especially since we won this time around.)
