Britons who saved Holocaust victims during World War II honoured by Gordon Brown
Sir Nicolas Winton, who organized the rescue of hundreds of Jewish children in Prague in 1939, was there to receive his award in person. He is now 100 years old. Dennis Avey, a mere stipling of 91, received the award for trading places with an inmate at Auschwitz, gathering intelligence on conditions ther and sharing his PoW supplies. Other medals were awarded postumously.
