I was just reading the website that bears her name. She’s in the middle of a deportation issue to Sri Lanka. As I understand it, as long as she’s under 18, she can petition for legal status through her parents. When she turns 18 (which is in a few weeks now I take it) she’s regarded as an illegal alien and will be deported unless she’s granted some kind of special status. Her parents aren’t being cooperative (so says her website) to let her become a legal resident before age 18.

Is it their call? (I have no clue about how that works.)
