Following the elections, Israel’s President Reuven Rivlin began accepting the traditional post-election party recommendations for the role of next Prime Minister.
In something of a surprise twist, Israel’s Blue White party leader Benny Gantz - chief rival to Benjamin Netanyahu - has just been given the majority of recommendations, 61 out of 120, with both the Arab Joint List party AND Avigdor Lieberman’s Israel Beitenu recommending Gantz (IB gave no recommendation last time around, to give both Netanyahu and Gantz a chance).
