Years ago, after a bout of food poisoning my wife called the Health Deaprtment to report the burrito place we’d eaten at that evening. The guy said they’d look into it, but noted that real food poisoning is generally caused by something you ate 24-72 hours before, rather than something you ate that day. Of course, that’s what you remember, at least in part from it making a return appearance.
Stomach flu, of course, manifests similarly, but it’s contagious. If your nearest and dearest get hit within a week, it probably wasn’t food poisoning.
Also, I assume you COOKED the ingredients in the chili, so even if the meat was iffy, that should have taken care of it.
