The difference being that those substances are legal with a prescription under federal law while marijuana is not.

I thought you original post was about legal (medical) marijuana —which I guess is a states rights vs federal law thing.

Some states recognize medical marijuana as legal.

so I guess it would only be a federal crime if one crossed state lines from a medical marijuana state to a non-medical marijuana state.
