Apparently European cars sell better in Japan than American cars. It probably has something to do with consumers there wanting more fuel efficient cars and smaller cars to deal with smaller roads in Japan.

The US is something of a unique market since most of our cities were built, historically, recently. We tend to have wider roads in general. I mean, hell, all you have to do is watch a few episodes of The Grand Tour (or older episodes of Top Gear) and watch them try to navigate through old cities.
