I know the Turks tend to see the Kurds as “misguided brethren”. The Turks do have a certain imperial mindset - the idea that the Kurds just need a “mission civilisatrice” to transform them into happy, productive Turks. I would say they view the Kurds (patronizingly) as “wayward children” who just need to get with the program, as it were.

This perfectly describes the typical Russian imperialist mindset in regard to the Ukrainians too.
