Lack of empathy seems to be the thing that unites many conservatives.

Remember the woman who write the twitter rant about how she’d been defending the Republican party against charges of sexism, but couldn’t any more after seeing how the party was supporting Trump? Lots of people were wondering why she only had trouble then, but not the racism and homophobia. The answer is that a lot of conservatives have trouble feeling empathy. They cannot put themselves in another person’s place; they can only do something when it affects them or someone they know.
