Many of the players from the Dominican Republic have been steroids users. Growing up, their diets were far below what American players were used to. And while they had great baseball skills, they were mostly not power hitters. But with the advent of the juice, people like Miguel Tejada went from single digit home run totals to large HR numbers. Sosa, Tejada, Manny Ramirez, and others have since been exposed. I am not making this some sort of anti Dominican rant, so don’t get me wrong. Roger Clemens, Barry Bonds, McGwire, Rafael Palmeiro and countless other American born players also cheated. And hopefully baseball is on its way to cleaning up the sport.

Sadly Bud Selig is not the right man for that part of the job.
