Our Trumpster brother has repeatedly said the current level population world wide is not sustainable. He was thinking that 4-5 billion might be the maximum, but I’ve seen other sources that claim that if we want a first world level life style, then the earth can only support perhaps 2 billion. I am not an expert and cannot guess at the maximum level if we want a planet that supports other lifeforms too — if we don’t want a world as in TOS “Mark of Gideon”.

12-16 billion if we stop scaremongering GMOs, nuclear power, and get serious about climate change.

We will level off naturally way before that. Whatever the population of Earth is between 2050-2100 (probably the 2050 pop) is going to be the cap. We have about 25-75 years to figure out an economy that’s not based entirely on “growth” but isn’t backwards “do without/luddite” bullshit.
