Good morning, lizards.
A beautiful, breezy morning here along the Lake Michigan shoreline with a nice Summer day on tap.

I just put up a post about the Obama administrations’ commitment to putting the framework for a high-speed rail system in place here in the US.

While it would certainly be impossible to fund it entirely in this economy, and will be until we experience some major economic recovery, I’m glad to see the current administration is willing to move forward on it. I think that it would have a tremendous impact on our economic future, and it would also help reduce our dependence on foreign oil.

I’ve long been an advocate of bullet trains… the high-speed rails systems that are in place throughout Japan and Europe are admirable, and have been greatly beneficial to their respective economies. We could do a lot more in this country to improve the light rail system, as well.

We’re Americans, the most innovative and hard-working people on the planet… but we’re roughly fifty years behind the rest of the world in the development of an efficient high-speed rail system.

I’m curious what the rest of you think about the development of a high-speed rail system in the US?
