About a week after the election I was on the bus across from a young black woman with her little son. I would guess the little cutie was about 4. And it struck me- I was happy that this boy and others like him would grow up knowing that they indeed could grow up to be whatever they wanted in this country- even President.

I cannot, in good conscience, say the same thing for girl children, and do not think I will ever live to see that altered. While I think it’s wonderful so many feel it’s possible, I no longer share in that optimism. May you all prove me wrong.

I hope for only 1 good thing to come out of 44’s term. I hope that he becomes a positive role model for all the young black males who have no “good” role models. If he can get the kids to stay in school and take responsibility for their actions and to become productive members of society than he has done something very good.

Pie in the sky maybe. That is what I hope for.
