It’s OK to bash the Chinese government, but not to bash Chinese culture and food in general. The former is justified, the latter is a mark of bigotry. It’s stupid too, because it insults democracy activists and dissidents in the same way and the CCP. So what words like that end up doing is earning scorn and mockery in the West, and fueling nationalist anger in China.
