there is a mental link among these people between homophobia and patriotism.

The link is American Exceptionalism and Dominionism: they feel that if we are to be God’s Own Country, our laws must reflect (their interpretation) of God’s Laws.

They insist that allowing things like abortions, gays to serve in the military or marry, prostitution, drug use, progressive taxation, etc. is all an abandonment of (thier view of) Scripture and will lead to our losing favor in the eyes of God.

I can’t wait to see the shit fit these people have when Bioshock Infinite hits the shelves next year.

If it does to American Exceptionalism what the first Bioshock did to libertarianism, there’s going to be a LOT of Outrageous Outrage™.
