Honestly I wouldn’t necessarily be surprised if he passes in the next year or so. It’s not uncommon among folks who have been married for 50+ years to both pass within about a year. Sure, by that point they are of similar age which makes it more likely, but grief is also a stressor on the body.

My parents were mere pikers at a mere 44 years. My mother died first, and it took my dad two years to get over it; but he only had another six months after that, which I think is very sad. On the bright side, he went suddenly, in his sleep, and had played a little golf only two days before.
