If the goal was to stop the attacks, that failed; Hamas is still firing mortars at Israel. In any other situation, that would be the end of the ceasefire, but not when Israel’s involved. It will simply be ignored.

Israel’s failures in the Hizbullah war were the result of political failures first and foremost. They were also dealing with a terror regime that had been preparing years for that moment. Hamas had far less time and capabilities at their disposal.
