Well, yes, that’s why we have building codes, so you actually have to put a guardrail next to the stairs, and why pools have to have anti-entrapment stuff built into them. Not because people who want this stuff are friggin’ morons who think that you can eradicate all death, but to lower the rate of those accidents.

So yeah, building codes are another great thing the government does— even if done imperfectly— which can be pretty easily seen in in the difference in a death toll after a quake in Haiti vs one in Tokyo or San Francisco.

Are you just being ironic, or something, and showing the flaws in your argument on purpose?
