It wasn’t only conservatives who were racist back then.

That kind of bigotry crossed all political lines.

Basically, yes it was, and is.

Another parallel: there are liberals/progressives/people on the left/whatever, who have damaging ideas about LGBTs. Those are conservative ideas.

The thing that cracks me up is the sudden come-to-jesus moments that aren’t really come-to-jesus moments by this new swath of conservatives who finally got it through their thick skulls that policing people’s bedrooms is not “limited government”.
