It was a call to police and they did reportedly respond so I imagine there would be some sort of public record of it. You could call the police station and ask.

Ok, just the way the statement was put is that the police knew it could happen so would do a little more research if one came in (like, I don’t know, calling the house back to confirm). Hence this would stop a full response to a prank call. So the only “proof” (lacking a full response) would be his word that a call had come in. I took your statement to be that the police were informed and took the extra verification step, if this didn’t happen why even inform the police that this could possibly happen.
