The problem is, when not in use they almost deactivate Comfort. It will take 5 days to staff and stock her, then sailing time from Baltimore… a week, at the earliest.

The UN ofiices are destroyed. The Red Cross building is down. Doctors Without Borders reported last night (via twitter) that they had major damage and staff unaccounted for. (All good points for personal preparedness, no matter where you are.)

They almost have to downline the ship. Keeping it at full readiness is costly and until the disaster hits there are always more pressing needs for the money.
