At this point, I don’t think anybody can realistically say Obama can lose (barring him wiping his ass with the American flag or some similar catastrophe). Which means the house/senate races become that much more important. This election is starting to just boil down to 1 thing: voter turnout, and how that turnout affects the House and Senate races. If the polls continue to get worse for Romney, no amount of magical fairy dust, tinkering with the numbers, or outright bullshit will convince people that this race is remotely close.

Now, that can change things on both sides. Obama voters think he has this thing won, so they might not bother. Romney voters think he has no prayer, so they don’t show up. Personally, I think that it will be much more detrimental to the supposed ‘loser’ in the polls. I think it behooves the Dems to go for the throat on this one: try everything they can to push the polls in hopes of crushing any possible enthusiasm on the Republican side. That’s how they hold the Senate and possibly take the House.

Obviously, the same is true for the Republicans. Do what they can to keep it close, otherwise they could lose both houses of Congress.
