Having passed legislation helpful to minority groups obviously doesn’t mean they’ve fixed every problem.

But it’s like gay rights; we’re pathetically behind on gay rights, and the Democrats are total wusses about it, but they’re still the only ones that have pushed it forward, at all. Democrats know they can count on the vast majority of the gay vote not just because the GOP shits all over gays, but because the Democrats have actually pushed gay rights forwards.
