“We propose that we rebuild the key tools of missile defense”: Navy cruisers. “They’re old and tired.”

Our cruisers are what? Ticonderoga class ships are from the 90s and have a 40-50 year lifespan with retrofits (VLS systems), new radars, sonars, missile systems, etc.
Throw in the Arleigh Burke class DDGs, and you’ve got more 1990s-2000s ships. In fact, the DDGs have picked up some of the role of the CG class.
Once again, Trump’s blowing smoke.
