I knew back in the 80s that a lot of Christians didn’t understand their releigion when they whined about The Last Temptation of Christ. Jesus wasn’t Christ until he accepted, as a man, the responsibility of dying for other’s sins. And he almost didn’t, which you see if you read his prayer the night before he was arrested.
