re: #327 dangerman (not steve)

yeah, i’ve been running and training and prepping for a long time

today reality hit me whammo!

the start of the first Dopey race (5K) is 4 days 15 hours and 15 minutes away (thurs 5:30A)

not that you care but the countdown timer at disney looks like for midnight when the expo starts the previous day. who really cares about that?

we’re gonna run 4 races over 4 days
doubling the distance each day up to sunday’s marathon

i’m not scared or worried or concerned. i’ve run way more than that and am more than prepared.

it’s just the living with “the future”, the planning, training, for the thing “out there”, some time next year. well, that’s gone. training’s over.

and it’s here. the actual doing of the thing
to do this right you slow down life for 5 days or so
and even that will be over in the blink of an eye.

i wonder what will fill the inevitable emotional void. i guess we’ll see….after.

i actually drive up to disney on wednesday
there will be pics, posts, and updates

Not the same, but…

My second annual 5k is next month. I haven’t ‘run’ in two weeks. Way back two weeks ago, when I used to run, I did it twice a week, or not at all. I thought when I ‘retired’, I would get up to three times a week. But retirement has been greeted by cold weather. I have clothing enough to do the Iditabike, but I can’t make myself go out in the cold. Maybe spring will come in a week and I can ‘run’ three times a week, and take a couple days off before the event. Would that be overdoing it?

/good luck with your toes. I know everything else is ready. You’re probably already packed. Give klys a hug for me. Have a great time!
