Florida Sen. Marco Rubio said he does not support ending birthright citizenship for the children of undocumented workers and that Donald Trump’s immigration proposal could not pass Congress during a visit to the Iowa State Fair on Tuesday.

“I don’t agree with that,” Rubio told reporters when asked if he supports ending birthright citizenship, the controversial policy included in Trump’s recently released plan to overhaul the U.S. immigration system.

“I haven’t read his plan, I’ve only read press accounts, or some of them,” he added. “Obviously there are some ideas that have merit, but the majority of it is not a workable plan that could ever pass Congress.”
