Yglesias has a point. We don’t know how to deal with folks like Ted Kennedy or Bill Clinton - guys who said all the right things and supported the right things and did a lot of the wrong things.
Were FDR to rise from the grave (he wouldn’t be bound by term limits) he would not get the nomination due to Japanese internment. Ted Kennedy would not get elected, and Bill would not be a nominee.
But here’s the thing: only one party is moving forward, not backwards. One party isn’t trying to justify the lying of their SCOTUS nominee.
