I’ve been getting overly sharp elbowed on twitter I guess, since Aravosis blocked me yesterday.
He was complaining about pro trans groups that use phrases like ‘deadnaming’:
Misgendering and deadnaming TGNC people is violence. TGNC employees deserve better workplace conditions to do their jobs. Read more at https://t.co/Z1Zuzi5NWM pic.twitter.com/zmFlkaUdff

1. No idea what “deadnaming” is.
2. Had to guess what TGNC is, never saw it before, guarantee most of my followers have zero clue.
3. Not sure how something that’s an accident is also intentional.
This is bad messaging, starting with the assumption people know your buzzwords. https://t.co/LlNztPZ6g4— John Aravosis 🇺🇸 (@aravosis) December 14, 2018

I tweet this because it goes to a larger critique I have of many groups on the left. They just assume that everyone knows their issues, their buzzwords, and thus they don’t bother actually explaining anything, and their message falls flat. https://t.co/tL3THIe1M6

Okay, I understand that but…
I’m sorry but that’s an idiotic take, and it’s typical of millennial activists. You think people will be won over to your side by magic, so it’s not your job to convince them. I’m sorry, that’s lazy, privileged, arrogant, and a recipe for losing. That’s not how we won gay rights.

No, fuck that. I am old enough to remember when mainstream gay rights groups either ignored the trans community or were actively hostile. I don’t need you coming into a conversation and insulting people who didn’t ask your goddamned advice to begin with.

If you’re waiting for people to Google why they should embrace your civil rights or other cause, then you’re going to lose. Successful advocacy is part in-your-face pressure and part marketing/salesmanship. It’s not your target’s job to just accept that you’re right. https://t.co/iU1fJq68Mc

Well, he is gonna ‘splain it out to us silly dumb trannies anyway.
I had thoughts:
Fine. I will get in your smug face: DEAD NAMING IS DELIBERATELY USING MY OLD NAME INSTEAD OF THE NEW NAME I HAVE LEGALLY CHANGED TO FOR MY NEW GENDER. MISGENDERING IS A SHAMING PRACTICE TO KEEP USING THE WRONG PRONOUNS WHEN TALKING TO ME. THESE THINGS SUCK. DON’T DO THIS!

He blocked me.
I don’t know…was I overly bitchy? I honest to God don’t know what the fuck he was thinking if he didn’t expect somebody to bite back. That was some serious privilege shit IMHO and the trans community has had to fight for survival without a lot of help for decades. We didn’t ask and don’t want his savior input at this point in the game, and especially not with a crumbly insult topping.
