It isn’t often I engage in ‘conspiracy theories, but I would not be surprised if the media herd followed FOX, the big numbers player in cable news. I suspect they wanted some of those numbers for themselves. As FOX escalates, the herd seems to follow.

The story itself is Dali-esque, at best.

I think that’s exactly what is happening. The more stories that pop up (no matter how bogus) all reinforce each other. It’s a self feeding feedback loop.
