I agree with everything you said there.

I think the main problem is that it’s a truism that we’ll fight if America is threatened that greatly. But we have faced threats like this before— like McCarthy— and been able to take them down. I agree with the importance of doing so.

The English language makes it hard to say that ‘we will’ do something without making it seem like you consider it either inevitable or are speaking for everyone in the ‘we’.

I agree with you that there are things that are worth fighting for. I would fight for them if the time so came. I would probably not be a very effective soldier, but I’d fight for them.

But I will do everything in my power to not let it come to that.

I wish I had said it like that the first time. If I had, I would not have been misunderstood.
