I know. That is my position too… I hate people calling the AR-15 (civilian version of m-16) an automatic rifle… its semi-automatic, but I understand what lobois saying, if it fires more than one round for each squeeze of the trigger its auto.
The definition I had learned was if you can empty the mag with one trigger pull and holding it down, then its auto… if you cant then its not. But I will stand down on this one Lobo seems to be right.

Want to build a Gatling gun? They are perfectly legal up to the point that you replace the hand crank with an electric motor. Attach an electric motor to a Gatling gun and you now have a weapon that the BATF folks find very interesting. A hand cranked Gatling gun is fine with them.
