Good points but I don’t think Mitt was the core problem. I would have entertained the possibility of voting for Mitt or Huntsman. Neither of them are radicals. However, the environment with the rest of the republican party is the big problem. The party forces moderate candidates into running on impossible platforms. There’s always pandering to the base in the primaries but the wingnuts took it too far. Mitt was forced to essentially run on the platform of repealing the healthcare reform model he pioneered and a mathematically impossible fiscal/tax policy. No candidate can survive that.

Agreed Mitt was not the core problem. Governor Mitt got morphed into TP conservative Mitt in the primary, he is not the core problem the Tea party is. The TP has got to go. Problem is it got them some seats. Well cut your losses and improve the party.
