Saw that yesterday. The original article also noted that if you got unemployment, it would put you at the top of the range of an experienced farm hand - so why would someone do that kind of backbreaking work when they can collect unemployment, instead of where the pay is contingent upon how much you gather.

It’s an odd set of incentives/disincentives, work ethic, and runs contrary to the meme that illegals are taking jobs from Americans. It would appear that there are jobs that Americans simply don’t want to do.

The whole thing seems off, to me. What employer is really going to hire somebody straight out of the office for field piecework?
