My Dear Ole’ Dad was a mechanical engineer with one of the Big Three automakers. Back in the day, employees could opt for the the company lease plan. New model car, insurance, maintenance all for one low monthly cost.

I thought everyone got a new car every year. I was in junior high before I realized what a big deal it was for most people.

Now, I keep my cars until they die.
