The single best thing that could happen for the US is for the GOP to break apart into its various constituencies. That pretty much is the only way to get the neo-confederates, white nationalists, women-haters, theocrats and various other bigoted cranks out of the party.

What I’d love for Abe, Teddy, and Ike to rise from the dead and smack some sense into them. We need an opposition party. Not a reactionary party that just proposes we do the opposite of whatever the President proposes because their base is filled with hate for the President.
