Why Don’t Americans Elect Scientists?

Actually, here in Illinois, there is a guy, Bill Foster, who previously served in Congress as a Dem (was elected to Dennis Hastert’s old seat in 2008 and subsequently lost the following term) who worked as a particle physicist at Fermilab. Mr. Foster is currently running in the 11th district (mine!) but faces a primary challenge.

He seems to be very interesting guy and since the districts have been redrawn and the new 11th district will be much more Democratic, he has a good chance of winning!
