He was not immediately charged. The lead investigator had doubts about his story, but he recommended a manslaughter charge. And the response back was that what he had wasn’t enough and he needed more evidence. He’s since told the FBI that he was under pressure from officers within his own department to charge Zimmerman.

You’re changing the story. First, he was cleared until railroaded by media/public pressure. Now the story is that he wasn’t cleared, he just wasn’t charged yet though the police didn’t believe his story. Maybe there’s a good reason they didn’t believe him and wanted to see him charged?
