My views about the cult home ownership and how it’s actually doing (and has done) massive and possibly irreprable infrastructure harm to America are outside the political mainstream, they don’t jibe with Democrats or Republicans. Because nobody wants to hear that they can’t buy the big shiny thing they really want because it’s bad for the country.

It’s done exactly the same in the UK.

Renting was by far the best option for most people - given the insane house prices - yet they just had to have that mortgage tying them down to make them feel better about themselves. And now many of them are ruined.
