Having stood within 20 yards of VERY slowly flowing lava on The Big Island, I can only imagine how hot it would have been in a chamber above a giant pool of very liquid (and thus much hotter) lava.

As a side note, watching that lava flowing was one of the coolest things I’ve ever experienced. Lava at that temperature is some truly weird shit.

For all that this is the real world application of my research, I have yet to do that. Hawai’i is on the list to go to and for sure the Big Island, but it hasn’t happened yet.

However, I have done this and am quite capable of extrapolating into larger areas. And therefore wanting the full body reflective heat suit, thank you very much.
