Conservatives like Hoft love to paint the KKK as Democrats and Southern but what made their success so frightening in the 20’s is how they crossed party lines and went as far west as Orange County (not exactly a liberal nor Democratic hot bed) and even Canada.And the 20’s is when the KKK was at its most powerful. Because they used patriotism to get appeal.

The KKK were always as Conservative as it gets.
