That is not an accurate representation. The issue of racism in politics is far more complex.

Senate Republican Leader Everett Dirksen overcame Demo attempts to block 1965 Voting Rights Act. When the numbers were counted, 94% of Senate Republicans vote for the legislation. At the time, 27% opposed it.

The legislation overturned then Dem efforts at mandating literacy tests and other hurdles for African Americans to prevent them from voting.

The Dixicrats you refer to would have joined a party that voted in favor of the Voting Act.

All I’m saying is that the issue of racism in American politics is very, very muddy.

In any event, real world beckons.
