Meanwhile, behind the scenes, even Trump’s fluffers are quietly dropping hints and nudging him. Let’s not forget: Even despite this pants-on-head stupid incident we just witnessed this week, his actual most dangerous and destructive boasts have been curbed by somebody. We don’t know who. At some point, maybe some actual legal challenges will come out, to be quietly withdrawn some time around Christmas. On January 20, 2021, Donald J. Trump will slink quietly out of a back exit of the White House, drive off, and within hours be arrested in the State of New York on charges of tax evasion and fraud.
